Leadership training is the feature that most clearly separates the Leaders in Health Innovations program from a standard medical degree. Applicants often want to know how individual leadership development at Sechenov works in practice, what it adds to the workload and how it is tailored. The answers below rely only on information published by the university.

What exactly is the leadership development program?

It is an additional six-year program running in parallel with the full General Medicine curriculum. Students complete all the usual medical subjects and, alongside them, a structured sequence focused on leadership.

Which skills does it target?

The emphasis is on management and communication skills used for self-management, coaching and leading teams. It also aims to prepare future doctors to make decisions under uncertainty and to strengthen their scientific communication.

Does it replace any medical subjects?

No. The leadership component is an addition, not a substitute. Graduates still earn the Medical Doctor qualification in General Medicine.

In what sense is it individual?

Each student follows a personal trajectory for developing professional and soft skills. Individual tracks may include an extended range of disciplines, additional internships, master classes and other learning activities.

Who guides me through it?

A personal curator accompanies each student, and mentoring is part of the package. Small-group teaching also provides direct access to leading faculty.

Is it charged separately?

No, it is included in the program fee, which is 1,500,000 rubles for the first year. That fee also covers research disciplines, curator support, laboratory access and extracurricular activities. The published figure refers to the first year only, so ask the admissions office about later years.

Do I need leadership experience to apply?

The published admission steps do not mention it. Entry involves submitting documents, passing two tests in chemistry and Russian language, then signing the education contract and paying.

How does leadership connect to the rest of my studies?

It links naturally with research and clinical work. Students present and defend research results, attend conferences and seminars, and train in Moscow medical institutions where teamwork is essential.

Where can I find more information?

Applicants in Malaysia can begin with the program page and then read the admissions section. For personal questions, use the contacts page.
